Chevron quilt

I saw so many chevron quilt on Pinterest recently and I coud't wait for a chance of making one. So I had a baby shower last weekend to attend. I knew about this shower months ago but as usual I waited until Wednesday to start this project. "I baby quilt made in 2 days is not to difficult to accomplish" that's what I was keep telling myself. I thin k this time I got lucky because this project took really only two days and $20.00 in material.

Sophia's bedroom

I spent the last month working on the girls bedroom. I made new quilts and duvet cover and pom poms. I still have to make some pillows but I am ready to show some pictures of Sophia's bedroom.
I got the duvet at target and I used a set of full size sheet sewn together as a duvet cover. I probably cost me $45.00 not bad. The quilt was not as economic but I love Sarah Jane fabric"children at play" and it took me a month to make her and her sister quilt.
Than I wanted to use all the pompom I had in the garage from open house party and birthday party (if you ever made paper pompom you know that is difficult to get rid of them, they are so cute and full and girly). I put together some tissue paper pompom and paper lantern in different level and had to beg my husband to hang it on the wall. I even mentioned to him that I would love to have one in our bedroom to but the answer was no( you never know he might change his mind....)

Quilts

Making quilts is a passion I found long time ago. I remember a magazine I found at the local store in Italy where there were example of a log cabin quilts. We do not have quilt like these in Italy so I was fascinating with the images of this beautiful blue log cabin quilt. I was eighteen at that time but I wanted to make my own, so I started to collect the fabrics and started what was going to began one of my passions. These are few of them I made this month.

Headbands

Making headband is one of my passion and fortunately my girls like them too. I experimented for awhile until I got to the finish product with different material, shape and headbands. This is what I come up with. Headband are very easy accessories you can use to change a dress or just feel pretty. I wear them too sometimes they make me feel pretty.

You can find them here

Faux cupcakes

When my sister in law asked for a faux cupcakes for her birthday, I has no idea what they were. But thanks to google I did my research and found out some tutorial and some inspiration(I love google, it is an indispensable tool for learning). The first attempt did not go that well. I followed one of the tutorial but it turned out very heavy and I had to shipped it all the way to California. So I did the process all again with my own adjustment and this is the results. Now I only wish I wrote down my process just in case I will have to make more in the future.

Sherry present

Today I want to share with you pictures of the present I made for my mother in law-Sherry- for Christmas. I got the container at Wall mart, so I altered it using my xyron machine( it works so much better than just glue). And I cut all different pieces of paper and made tags so she can have all the material by hand to make some cards. She loves scrapbook and carmaking and I hope she will be able to use it. I also included an address stamp with her address from SU

Canvases

Canvases-Did a spelled it right? I will ask my husband when he gets back home. Anyway I saw at Michael's a pack of canvas(7)on sale and even if I had no clue what to do with it I had to grab it. That's what happen when I go to craft store I get this buying impulse and I can't stop myself..........
I decided to make hair bow holders considering I have two girls and a lot of hair accessories laying around the house. And I think they can also be used as pictures or notes holder. If you are curious to know how to make it this is the instructions:
1)put on top of the canvas a layer of batting and the fabric of your choice
2)staple the fabric on the back pulling thigh
3)create your design with ribbons or trim and staple on the back
4)with hot glue attach some embellish
5)sew-by hand- a piece of the same fabric on the back for a clean look(optional)

My beautiful Sophia is 5

My daughter Sophia is 5 today. So we decided to have a birthday party on Saturday, a Fancy Nancy Tea Party! We had so much fun and the weather was incredible so we were able to have the party outside in the yard ( that made cleaning way easier!).
I tried to prepare everything ahead of time but like always I found myself rush and get everything together in 4 days, will I ever learn? Anyway, because birthday can be very expensive and she only 5 I tried to keep it in a budget and make it everything myself(cheap but a lot of work)cake,food,party-favor,....
She had fun and that's all it matters.

Isn't she beautiful?

Jewelery

Jewelery it is something I always being passionate about. I just did not know how easy is to create your ow piece. I am not that good at it yet, I need more time to learn and more time to create but I will get there. I love necklaces, fabric flowers, headbands and cuffs..... Also I love the neovictorian steampunk style and that what I was looking as inspiration when I was working on this piece. All the material I used can be found at Michaels (I do not have antique shops or other cool stuff around).

Left over....

I don't know about you but I have very hard time when I need to trow away fabrics. I fall in love with it when I buy it and after I use the fabric for a project I have all of these small pieces left. What to do with it? I try to trow it away instead of cluttering my craft room, but I can't so they end up in a basket than get fuller week after week. And I swear I go trough that basket so often trying to make it less messy but it does not work

Than I decided to make a blanket with all of those small pieces, and that was a good idea at first but than it took way longer than what I originally expected. Months later I have all my precious pieces in a blanket and in the basket got full again.............

Craft and Cupcake night

I wanted to have a cupcake and craft nigh from long time and I was finally able to get everyone together last week. We made a little box with four card and envelope and of course we had wine and cupcakes. This is a simple project everyone can do and it can be a nice present. We hope to get together once at month and do something crafty, even if sometimes with our husband being in the military is very challenging. Next time I have to remember to take picture of the other ladies project.

So long...

It has being so long since I posted last! So many things happened the last month: my husband finally come back home from school, my mom visited us and the pastry business took a lot of my time. But even if I did not post anything I still made a lot of things especially while my mom was here. She is very good on sewing so I took advantage of her, I wish I have her skills or at least she could live close by instead of another country. This top was the first project we work on(and the easiest one). I will attempt on making one again alone as soon as I can.
